Default Changes ahead for jazz

Well after 26 years of being in the sign business i decided to retire (well actually i quit). I was usually out of the house from 7:30-6:00 five days a week. Now i will be home all day and gone between the hours 4:30pm-11m. Normally every night from 9-10ish jazz and i would go up on the bed and cuddle. He absolutely loves this. When we go upstairs his little foot always points to the bed.
I am wondering how he is going to handle this because there is no way he will do this with my husband. I am so hoping it does not cause problems for him with the new schedule.
Has anyone had such a schedule change? Any ideas for making this transition? Jazz seems to normally go with the flow with everything so far but knowing just how much he loves his evening cuddles i fear he may get bent out of shape. I am going to do the cuddle time in the mornings but evenings really seem to wind him down for bed.

Sounds like great changes to me. You will have lots of time together. How is jazz feeling?

I think he is loving it along with me! If my husband stays in the house after work he lets him out until i get home. Its been a little over a week and he seems to be doing great although he is staying up later than i would like so i try to keep quiet in the mornings to let him sleep in

I'm sure he will adjust just fine...and, love it.

Sounds like he will actually wind up with more attention! Glad he is happy so far! You can cuddle on the weekend nights. Hope you like the new job!

Actually, I would not change the schedule on the weekends, I would gradually change it to a new one that can be kept everyday.

And, please, do try to get him to bed when the sun goes down. I know it's a hardship on guardians that work to do this but it's so much healthier for them in the long run... Even 10 pm is way, way too late for a parrot to go to bed in the winter and there is no way he is getting fully exposed to twilight (sleeping for birds is not only a matter of how many hours, it's much more complicated than that) so you know his melatonin production is definitely out of whack.

I think he'll adjust fine, especially that he'll have you all day! We do cuddles here between 9 and 10 too. If it's any later than that, I leave it up to him. Cuddles or stay in bed. He sounds easy going like mine, and it's great when they just go with the flow. So I wouldn't worry too much. Jazz will do great!

Jazz seems to be doing well with his new schedule. I leave the bedroom dark until about 10am and when i get him out he is ready to play! I wish he would let my hubby handle him more because he would be in bed at dusk, I know he would miss cuddle time but i do want to keep him healthy and happy. I will just make my husband try more with him. He will step up for him when he is on the floor but if he knows it is time to go to bed he will jump from his cage and that makes my husband freak fearing that he will hurt himself. I am luck jazz seems to be pretty much cool with everything except going to bed

Does Jazz have a treat that he just absolutely loves?

Kady is my difficult one at bedtime. But 9 times out of 10 he's good as I show him the peanut he adores and can only have AFTER I put him in his sleep cage.

Kita is my easy one, I put her on top of her sleep cage and make sure she sees me put the peanut in her dish and she goes right in her sleep cage!

Try lowering the intensity of the lights gradually as well as lowering the lights themselves so they appear to 'sink' into the horizon (I use to put the lamp under a table for the 'final stage' -it's not the same as a real sunset but it's the best imitation we can do), the whole thing should take, at least, 30 minutes to trigger his pineal gland to start producing melatonin which will 'tell' the body it's time to go to sleep.
