Default Breakfast time!

Okay so I happily woke up this morning pretty early to make Gracie some breakfast. (I never wake up happy! lol) I made her some scambled eggs. She came for a short time then began throwing them EVERYWHERE! lmao It was hilarious, but I'm worried she didn't eat enough. If she was hungry she would of eatin more right?? What do you guys think?

Has she ever ate eggs before? As long as she has the food available from the breeder she should be fine. Just keep an eye on her and make sure she is eating. And if you have a scale you can weigh her every morning. Good luck! I know you are so excited to finally have her home!

Yeah the breeder told me she had. I don't have a scale yet. I need to get one though!

Kris - great picture with the corn!! Don't give up on new foods. She will probably be picky until she learns to eat new things.

ROFLMBO!!!!!!!!!!!!! GREAT pictures!!!! I'll have to try that with mine. LOL! Definitely keep trying with the new foods. Merlin gets real persnickety. One day he'll like spaghetti, the next time he wont. Scrambled eggs are the one thing he always eats without a problem. Did your breeder make the eggs a special way? Maybe they made them differently or seasoned them differently or something.

Awww how cute! I don't think there is a bird out there that doesn't like corn! With the egg, try chopping it up really fine. Riley likes her eggs with veggies in them. I will thaw out and handful of frozen veggies and cook them with a egg in the microwave. About half way through cooking - about 30 seconds I stir and chop it up and then finish cooking it. Once it's done I then will chop it up in smaller pieces. Have you made her beans, rice and pasta yet? Riley really likes that.

Well birds dont eat eggs as a meal like we do. If she was hungry it's not guaranteed she would have eaten more of just eggs. What was the food she was going to eat for breakfast besides eggs? Pellets? Seeds?

That's why you want the scale.

I never feed animal proteins except a TINY bit of egg occasionally. And for people who do, (yes there are exceptions) ...they only get a small bit of animal protein in addition to their MAIN foods. Those would be grains, veggies, dark leafy greens, a bit of fruit, soak seed and sprouts.

She'll be looking to eat about 30 minutes after waking up which normally is with the sun. Then again between 2 and 4 P.M. which is their main meal filling their crop for the overnight. Since they go to roost at dusk. So you'll want to offer a variety of things with eggs just sparingly.

I know everyone is sick of hearing me say that, and I suggest you review diet with your vet. It's a complicated thing and if she isnt eating pellets she needs to eat from certain categories and actually EAT not play around with them. Example: Like a large percentage of beta carotine foods (orange) about 35 % IMO. Also if you arent feeding pellets you'll want to review vitamin and mineral supplements with her doctor. Especially a Grey with the calcium.

The scale is very important they usually regress especially if they are eating (or not eating) differently than at their home.
