I talk to Ruby all day long just like that! We hold complete conversations, even though her end of it is limited now. We talk about all our bird friends and being a good bird, etc.

I also have talks with them when they bite. It goes like this.

" I CANT TAKE ANYMORE!!!!!!! Im getting on a bus to nowhere and LEAVING! If I dont get out Im gonna SCREAM! Im gonna pour gravy on you and make you into a sandwich!"

Afa bobs her head and says "HELLO ALLO!" Occy says "WWWWWHHHHHHAT!?" ALex bites his nails and Mr Buddy says "SHUT UP!"

GO ahead and laugh....John does...

Well, I guess I spoke too soon. She's back at the biting...I think her attitude right after biting bothers me more than the bite itself. She acts like she can't wait for a reaction. I don't give her one, but it almost seems like my not giving her any reaction is a reaction itself...make sense? I think I've lost too much blood to make any sense. (I'm kidding of course)...

She has her good moments and her bad...mostly good (thank goodness)...here are a couple snapshots from today...

Does she look like she might be molting? And if she is, could that be the reason for the biting?

She sure is a cute bird.

The 1st photo shows she might be molting. Laker & Rio are going thru a molt - just getting over it. Laker's been terribly crabby. I've seen him jump on his perch & then attack a wing or back or front feather area.

Unfortunately she may take 'some' time to get over the biting.

Try a change of scene? - has anyone tried this?
Do you know of someone who would bird sit her for a week or 2? Sounds like you both need a break. Have you an opportunity to travel to a cottage or somewhere with her? Being in a new place may make her more humble & less aggressive - you know, like a mini honeymoon period - anything to stop this for a bit.

It can be and that is why I thought the entertainment portion is her motivation, she is not a nasty killer kind of bird where the bite is the important part.

Somewhere there is an ABC of parrot behavior post. I think that it may give some ideas. Maybe somebody can remember how to find it?

I like this idea, it works for breeder birds. They need to go on a car trip and return to a different aviary, it does modify behavior. I have never tried myself.
