Default Beak Clicking

Hi Everyone!

It's been a while since my last post. All is great. My company is getting ready to move so I have been extremely busy at work.

I have a question. Do any of your greys click their beaks? If so, what does it mean? I'm not talking about grinding her beak. It is a clear clicking sound. Thanks!

My grey clicks her beak a lot too. She sometimes does it when I'm not paying close attention to her. Maybe it's a way of saying "Hey look at me!".

Hi klamb85

Hmm... I don't know about that. She does it when I am paying attention to her.

Karen this site explains several body languages;

LINK: Understanding Your Pet Bird's Body Language

Quote:
Tongue Clicking
Rapid "clicking" of the tongue against the beak which generally means "I want to be friendly, I won't hurt you". This invitational behavior is most often seen in cockatiels and cockatoos.

Beak Clicking
Beak clicking is a sharp, consistent "clicking" sound used when a bird feels threatened, or is protecting a particular object or space. Often accompanied by neck stretching and sometimes the raising of a foot, it is a signal that the bird is defending territory or possessions, and is trying to ward off the "intruder". Approaching a bird exhibiting this behavior will most likely result in a nasty bite.

Maybe she's tongue clicking. That explanation seems to be what she would do if she's playing.

Is tongue clicking loud? Sometimes it may be one click other times it could be several in a row. I don't feel like she wants to bite me. I would think if she felt threatened she wouldn't want to come near me but she flies to me for the attention. Is there a difference in the two sounds? I hope she is tongue clicking

Karen, I also wanted to let you know that I order the red palm oil and Dozy loves it She will lap it up from the spoon-lol. I'll mix some in her fresh veggies and she'll eat her veggies. When I make birdie bread I mix some in there and she just loves it. Overall she is eating a lot better these days. I am not complaining one bit!!!! Thanks!
