We don't own any horses (just can't afford 1). But my 12 yr. old daughter takes lessons (hunter/jumper). She works out at the barn 4 days a week to pay for her lessons and save some money for shows. She also does extra chores in exchange for free riding. Here's a picture of her riding her favorite pony (who she's about to outgrow!) last summer.

What a great picture! I wish I had taken lessons!

I've been riding since I was about 8 (now 20) although we sold my horses about 3 years ago and I haven't ridden since.

I got Jody my appy mare when I was about 12. Chino (gorgeous, gorgeous arabian who was like a little puppy dog!) we bought when I was about 14. No shows or fancy stuff for us, although Chino would have been great for it.

I grew up taking lessons and, in high school, my familiy moved to a wonderful place where we could have horses literally in our front yard

I had a NSH who I adored and we took dressage lessons for us both and goofed around with jumping and trail riding.

When I moved out, my parents sold him and I haven't been riding since. I'd like to get back into it someday, since it used to be such a big part of my life.

See my name?
I love my horsies although they are now retired, I have not ridden in a while now. My daughter rides an aging pony but does not compete. I keep thinking that I should harness train a youngish pony who has been outgrown by my children but I still have not gotten round to it yet so she is just a mascot these days.

I would love to have a horse. When I was little my brother had a paper route in our town and he delivered the papers from a pony cart. he made the paper and some national horse mag. I miss having them around. But they are very expensive to keep and I have enough going on with the birdies,,,,,maybe someday.

Hi all! We have six horses right now. Talk about work! I'll give you the run down...

Clover: four year old mahogany bay Mustang mare. We adopted her as a yearling fresh off the range.

Noolah: Six year old Summer black Mustang mare. She was a rescue from some people that wanted a "cheap horse" (it costs only $125 to adopt a Mustang) not understanding that Mustangs are wild animals that you can't "cowboy" into being good horses. She's as sweet as pie now.

Chilly: Our seven year old daughters POA. He's 15 years old. He's an appy and quite a looker. But a pain in the butt. We are actually looking for a new home for him. So if anyone wants him, if you have a great home to offer, I can give you a screaming deal! He's a nice boy. Our daughter has just lost interest and he's too good a pony to just sit.

Lola: 18 yr. old. A little sweet Shetland that was a rescue, she was living in a junkyard next to a paper mill. Our youngest loves to ride her. She's not nippy or anything! Quite shocking for a Shetland!

Ollikut: 9-10 month old(?) palomino Mustang colt from Nevada. He was in that disastrous Sheldon roundup last June. He's had medical issues from the start, but he's a sweetie, and coming around nicely.

Sampson: 9-10 month old(?) Chestnut Mustang colt from the Sheldon roundup also. He must have some draft in him because he's already 14hh, thick, and very mellow. Sweet pea!

Right now we just trail ride. We got the colts to gentle up and then find great homes for them. It's getting harder and harder for rescue groups to adopt out Mustangs, so we thought we'd give them a little head start! Although we may end up keeping Sampson. There is no better horse in the world I think! Super smart and very well built. Survival of the fittest you know! I'd like to start endurance riding with Noolah too. Maybe next Summer! So that's our crew!
