Default My dogs lympectomy

Didn't post till now, was waiting on the results first.

Ellie is my girl, I love her deeply. A few weeks ago I noticed her limping. Got her up on the couch, saw what looked like a couple of maggots on her knee. Told my son to grab the torch and my glasses so I could look closer. I was agast, my dogs just don't have parasites, I show them for hecks sakes.
These tiny match head size growths were bleeding when I moved them. She had to go for a routine vaccination and vet check so I made her appointment to coincide. Over the 3 weeks from noticing the tiny maggot growths to the vet visit they had increased in size, quadrupled. If in Australia you know the size of a 20c piece. The vet took one look and said it had to come out, no beginning, no end. Also needed testing, for maglinancy.

I am happy to say, the operation is long over, her stitches out and the test results are back. The lump is benign.
The scar, I will post a picture. Keep in mind this was just a match head lump and within 3 weeks required this surgery.

Pay particular attention to any lumps on your dogs, especially as they age. I am soooo glad we picked up the lump when we did. Before it turned cancerous or before the op became too big.

I am $500 poorer, but oh so much richer knowing that my beloved Ellie is ok.

You're lucky it was in an easy to spot place.
Poor baby. Glad she is healing.

I'm so glad you caught that! I know from experience how fast these things can grow, especially on an older dog.

I have given up now. For the past 3 years I have been plagued with heartache and hardship. Tis my life. Just happy to be happy right now.
