I love Nutro Ultra but I wouldn't suggest it for dogs with allergy issues. The best one I know of is California Natural because it has so few ingredients. I also have used Natural Balance's allergy formula for cats with great results.

You might want to check Pet Food Supplies Dog Cat Bird ... PetFoodDirect.com before heading to the local pet store. Their prices are much better than the smaller shops that carry the good stuff like CN and Innova.

My neighbor feeds her dog vegeterian dog food... all times.......

last year sasha broke out in rashes in her elbows belly all areas that would in fact touch wood.... they found she was allergic to the treated wood that people use to make porches..... ..... she has been on steroirds. and because dogs can take human meds they have tried her on just about everything...... cats of course you canot... right now sasha is being covered in zinc. hopefully that will help her........ once that rach got a hold of her she has been so miserable........

I went ahead and ordered some California Natural. Got it here for what I think is a pretty decent price: California Natural Lamb Meal & Rice Dry Dog Food. Slim to none chance of my parents finding it anywhere near them, so I'll probably eventually have it set up to deliver automatically.

Thanks for all your help everybody!

My dog used to have issues with red skin, itchy face and ears, and intestinal problems (colon bleeding .) I put her on Canine Caviar at the reccomendation of a friend who trains service dogs. I chose the Lamb and Pearl Millet because the shop owner reccommended it for her stomach issues, but all of the formulas are good for allergies - no corn, wheat or soy. She's been much better ever since. I've heard great things about the Innova foods as well.

Of course, what I'd REALLY like to do is get her on the BARF diet.

Buddy's been on the new food for 11 days now. No change in his skin condition. Of course we're going to keep feeding it for a few more weeks just to make sure. He went to another vet a few days ago. They said it's just allergies, lots of dogs have them....and he gave him another steroid shot. He said it could be in the air and he's just breathing it in. The food may or may not do anything. Poor Buddy. I want to get to the bottom of this!
