I can't put into words what this cat means to me. He's so special and dear to me.
Dave adopted Boston the year after he graduated from college (I was still finishing my last year of college at the time). He went to a shelter and said, "Show me the cat that no one wants." He was led to a room that contained about 30 cats and inside a small carpeted cat house sat Boston. He had been there for at least a year at that point, and he was an adult (estimated 3-5 years old) and assumed to previously be a stray. His fur was like straw and he was very skinny and a big cat in general. The shelter named him since he was there so long and he responded to his name with a meow. He was too nervous to come out of his cat house so the shelter sent his cat house with him and Dave took him home. Dave had him neutered and it was after that that Boston gained most of his Big Kitty weight
I met Boston about a week or two after Dave had him - and it was love at first sight. Animals usually take to me quickly, but it was an instant connection with Boston. I can look at him and we understand each other. He's a very sensitive cat, the most sensitive that I've ever known.
Dave jokes that everything he buys he buys for Boston - about a year after Boston was with him, he bought Boston a house. Then he bought Boston a playmate, our 2nd cat Bruin. He then bought Boston a wife - that's me lol! Our latest purchase for Boston is our new furnace so that Boston is warm enough.
Boston has a unique hobby....he moves things at night and while we're out of the house....A couple years ago he moved a bunch of shoes in the middle of the night - took them from the laundry room and put them in the living room (I seriously thought we had a ghost for about 2 months before we discovered that it was Boston moving things!!). Ever since he started to move things he does it every single night - socks, shoes, the occasional article of clothing. Every morning I wake up and I'll find various socks strewn about the house and I'll say, "Boston, you've had a busy night!!" Sometimes we're lucky enough for him to deliver us a sock while we're still awake LOL. We believe that he's "hunting" and bringing us gifts, but we've always found it odd that he just out of the blue started this behavior and hasn't stopped doing for a single day since.
Here are 2 videos of him with his favorite toy - I never thought he would enjoy something like this, but he loves it!!

We believe that Boston is maybe 10 or 11 years old now.
And of course we bought Boston a dog and he has fallen in love with Riley:
