These shots are from last week, at Honeymoon Island State Park. It's a birders paradise there

This Little Blue Heron kept us entertained as he chased fish-



He finally got it, though!



There are a TON of Osprey nests there. This one just got back with MOST of a fish-


The fishing must have been good that day-


And, We even saw a young, freshly-fledged Great Horned owl preening in the trees... Check out those talons!-

It is in Dunedin, FL... A great place to visit! Lots of birds... A couple dozen nesting pairs of Ospreys.

Wow...I'm going to have to make it a point to go there.

Susan- We are up in New Port Richey at the moment, though are in the process of relocating to Southern Tennessee.

Honeymoon island is well worth the trip, though if you DO make the drive, schedule some extra time to take the ferry to Caldesi Island. It leaves from honeymoon, it is a hangout for migratory birds. We didn't get to go- Not enough time!

But, Even if you don't make it, you can see the birding is GREAT right there on Honeymoon island, too!
