Thanks Kathie. It really is a great variety of birds and you never know what you will see. I have learned to carry my camera every where when I am there. It is just fascinating and I love it - sure wish I could live there and work there as well.

My mom has already been saying I need to make sure I have a week of vacation for the beach, but I have to get through the cruise in May first and hope nothing else tries to eat away at my vacation time.

How do you know the names of these birds? My BF lives at the Jersey shore. There is a nest there - it is protected - of birds that migrate and have their young. For the life of me, I cannot rememeber what type of birds they are. They are a protected species. Any clue? They are large - the nest is HUGE!

A video of a Little Blue Heron and Snowy Egret fishing. They are really fascinating to watch. One guy I was talking to almost got left by his wife - she came through twice on the causeway but we were too interested in watching them to notice her.

I remembered - it's an Osprey nest!

I can walk to the water from my BF's house and watch the heron and egrets - much like your video. I almost felt like I need to reapply the Sunscreen while watching... then I came back to reality! Nice video!

Would need a pic or description of them to be able to identify. They have classes that are offered at no charge in the park.During the classes you get to walk the cause way with either birders or the park rangers which are all naturalists or biologists etc.
I attend at least one birding class and the causeway wildlife class each time I go. You learn the difference between birds like the Great Blue and the Tri Color. Recognizing the snowy from the Great White Egret and even the differences in the flight of the different birds.

Herons fly with their neck in an S shape like this.

A wood stork does not and if you see them from the botton - they have all black primaries like this. You use that to differentiate them from another bird but I can't remember which one it was.

Thanks. I can be quite bad about that - I go down for an hour and stay three just watching them. Then get a little red cause I forgot the time. Thank goodness for waterproof sunscreen.
