To think last Saturday these guys were naked and blind...well they have feathers and the eldest has that urge to fledge. The UPS guy came today to drop off a package and was suprised to see them and this is the second time this year he's been attacked by angry parent birds. He took a picture with his camera phone and came back to get a picture of the little guys with his digital. They're becoming a little famous with the post office and ups.
And, the father heh. He's a bit of an odd one. I've been having to tap on the glass of the door to get him to fly off the nest to get the mail if it doesn't fit through the slot. He made a trip into the sun room already and today the tap didn't work anymore. I gave'em a little butt poke and that worked.
That is so cool - thanks for all the photos & the story. That's a big family. The nest is very well built. I guess your 'scary' demeanor is blown- can't even frighten a Robin. Robins are pretty gutsy.
My parents have one over their front door - last year she had 2 clutches.
Oooo, so they could come back to that nest. The UPS guy was suprised they were that aggressive but they're gutsy. The mockingbird wasn't so bad. There's cardinals in my lilac bush heh.
thank you so much for keeping us updated too! i love the photos!! we had a nest in our backyard of our old house and everytime Tucker would go outside to go potty he would get attacked by two black birds... they would swarm over him and swoop down and nip him in the but. i couldn't help but laugh cause it was the funniest thing i had ever seen! it got to the point where he would run out there and do his business as fast as he could and then run back inside before the birds would see him!
They're SMUSHED into that nest. Momma can't sit on them anymore and funny thing is I had Bella on her harness watering the flowers out front. Well Momma robin and the father saw this big grey thing on my shoulder and divebombed us both. Bella was like 'whateva.'
Checked on them tonight seeing the mom's not there on the nest and two are sitting on top of their sibblings to keep warm.
