Default Male Ruby Throated Hummingbird

I was pleased with the light and colors on this one. A little different perspective than the typical hummingbird shot, and sort of reminiscent of an oriental print, perhaps?

Yes very oriental - love the quality of green in the background. Spring really rocks the greens.

Josh - take TONS of pictures & you'll get a few decent ones & maybe even an awesome 1 or 2. Keep practicing too. I'm trying to take lots more this year.

Nate, amazing picture! I showed Dad this morning & he asked if it was a painting.

Thanks everybody. Josh, believe me, a lot of mine suck too. Its all down to patience, practice, and learning from what works and what doesn't work. That's the big advantage of digital over film. I could never afford to shoot as much film as I do digital. A good 75 percent or so never make it past the first cut, and often 50 or so shots only yield 5 or 6 'keepers', sometimes none. Equipment plays a part too, but not as big a part as some would claim.

Nice shot. Hummingbirds are always a challenge- And you don't see them sitting still like this too often, either!!
