Crows and Ravens are incredibly smart, so it doesn't surprise me. You'd think he must have been captive at some point though, wouldn't you? I can't fathom that a totally in the wild crow would learn to talk. That would be just too cool!

The Crow/Raven is the most intelegent bird, this bird is in the records books.
The African Grey is number 2 in the record books.
Someone has lost there little friend, depending on the bird you might be able to get the bird to come closer to you, they know whom to trust.
A handful of seed and some smooth talking just may get your little friend to come in closer.
Starlings are also great talkers, A friend of mine (a rehabber) has helped several Starlings and recorded there speach capabilities, I was just awed.
Thank you for the story of your new friend Susan.

I second what Broken wing said - it has to have been a pet. Could a local radio station help? Maybe he's free for various reasons. Wouldn't want to see him 'trapped' by anyone taking advantage. I've always loved Starlings - until they dive-bombed my car all green & yucky - but i still love their cute stumpy bodies & wild colours. Now the Amethyst Starling - that's a beauty - African i think

How come so many interesting things happen around you Susan? Maybe you'll end up with a talking Crow - this might be kind of nice, when you've had such a rough year bird wise.

Wow, I didn't know that Starlings talked either...I know I've seen a breeder who breeds hybrid Ravens that talk and some had a white stripe, they were pretty cool.
