Yup - me too - they get the leftovers from my birds - and it's a lot!

Unfortunately not. I did notice on the first pic I took, one of the eggs looked cracked. More than a week later I was walking by and she flew out out so I took a peek. The egg was now really cracked so I thought they would hatch. A few days later I noticed 2 eggs on the ground and mommy wasnt there, so I peeked again. 2 eggs left in the nest. Its been a few days, and she hasnt returned so I guess they were not viable. The nest is at an eye level from my porch so I never had to disturb anything to see them. I try to leave them with privacy.

There are numerous others though in all quite a few of the trees. Both finches and Robins should be hatching soon I hope.

Awww that's a shame - I hope nothing happened to the mom.

I buy wild bird food for them. I have a cute little bird feeder hanging on my porch, and Ollie and I like to sit in the living room and watch them. We like the squirrels too. Every few days I'll shake the feeder so the squirrels can munch off the patio.

We dont have any squirrels here in this community! I wish we did, I like them. We did have a little chipmunk 2 years ago. It would raid the feeder and both cheeks would be all puffed out, then it would run and bury it in my flower beds. The next year we had sunflowers growing everywhere! I love all the critters though, they can all come! We make sure there's enough for everyone to eat! Its funny though, when the birds sit at the edge of the pond and drink or bath, the fish all swim to the corner like they're gonna get fed! I thought to write a childrens book based on it, and add the conversation they could be having!!

I like squirrels too! It's just that they're so darned destructive, and so determined to get inside somewhere to nest! Chipmunks, that's a different story. We have a couple of resident "munks", and they're perfectly well behaved.

I feel year round - especially love to see the wild turkeys come back year after year with their new babies!

We had a big ol' Tom here last year. He used to come into the yard everyday. He'd chase all the birds away from the feeders. But he was funny and so pretty!

Oh yeah....the whole place is a bird sanctuary -- have suet/seeds, hummingbird feeder and niger out year round, along with the bird bath. Hard to tell the outside ruckus (and mess) from inside.
