Default Baby Birdie

A few weeks ago, I went on a group camping and rafting trip on the Delaware. In the eveneing, as we were all just hanging out, this little one came out of nowhere, and fell right onto someones tent. He/She was adorable. Hoped right up on people and started honking. The nest was Higher than we could get to. They were enourmous trees. I dont even know how he survived the fall. We let him hang out with us for a while until we realized all the adult birds were circiling above us. We put him on a picnic table in a clearing and walked away. It was so neat to wacth who I assume was the mother try to coax the baby back with them. She came with food and fed the baby and then eventually, was able to help the baby get to a smaller tree. I hope they made it home.

I'm not sure what kind of bird it is.

How cute. Looks like he's looking up saying, "where is my mom".

What a cute little guy! Almost looks like some sort of woodpecker to me, what did the mother look like, Josh?

She was jet black, kinda looked like some sort of crow or something. Not too big though.

Yup, baby Grackle for sure. We've had moms bring them to the feeders, but I never saw one that wasn't fully fledged.
