Default Parrotlet Flydown Skills

svolk and homebird I thought of you. And my flying friend ~J~ of course.

Photos of pre-flydown...

Pipe learned flydown last year on my living room entertainment center and when Toby came I stopped doing much recall with her since I wanted her to bond with him. And she did. He's not at all determined to learn things like she is and just goes along with the flow, Mr Laid Back. LOL He even tried to breed her with one leg and wing while chewing a toy. She got mad and bit him LOL.

Anyway, the past couple weeks Piper has decided to visit my bedroom armoire. They'll sit there an hour or two. Then I'm working on flydown to me. This one's harder, much taller. I have to go directly under it...well I don't "have to" but I am....and it's harder to fly down straight almost than down and angle across....

They have the option of flying to the ceiling fan but Piper likes harder things and tries to swoop down to me. Right now I'm on my knees but hoping she'll perfect it so I can lie on the floor which would be a deep swoop.

So I'm trying to remember to take photos....when I can get someone to take it for me with them in flight I will....but they don't like people near them when "working" ....well that's Piper....Toby, as you can see in the close up just watches her for cues. He hasn't flown down such a sharp angle before and even she is tentative. I like that ...it's good for them to work.

I think he looks especially cute watching her watch what's below in the closeup.

AND I"m glad to see her get off her "liberate the leather from the living room entertainment center" kick....she can't damage the bedroom one LOL

See?

Wow, that will be quite the accomplishment! That looks difficult to fly down from way up there. Someday I am determined to get a video camera to illustrate Winston's big feat of flying down and around a sharp corner.

I love the sharp turns. It is a feat and I think Winston accomplished it quickly. A few months is nothing when you consider all the adjustments they have to make, not to mention physical stamina and skills. Seems to me it took Pipe about 4 months or more to actually go directly left or right without stopping on a temporarly landing first.
