Default CD to teach talking.....

Anybody have any success with using those CD's to help train the bird to talk??
Baby can talk some, and those teaching tools are available now. I wondered if you'd used one. Seems like it would work.
Here is one as an example,
PARNAMI Teach Your Bird Parrot To Talk CD Bird Training - (item 190135879479 end time Jul-28-07 04:02:00 PDT)

I've never actually tried one, but I've heard good things about these cd's. A friend of mine uses one for her CAG. He's picked up some phrases from it.

I made a cd of whisling songs and such. We play it for Gracie and she just loves it! Sometimes we let it play when we aren't at home. Hopefully she'll be whisling the tunes pretty soon!

You can also use your PC to record sayings you want your bird to learn.

I never used a tape or cd. But I think the best way is to repeat a word that's meaningful to the bird consistantly. So they relate it to something they like. Like the first phrase of the morning, something for food, something for bed, a toy whatever. And some words are easier than others. Whistliing is bad because it's "easier" to whistle than for them to say some words and once they whistle they may just whistle way too much. Well, for me anyway since I think whistling is annoying anyway. My vet told me that a coupla decades ago so I wouldnt have all my employees teaching whistling to the birds in the store.

For an amazon, they usually are fun talkers so I'd let it progress naturally. I always thought it would drive me nuts having to listen to the same thing over and over all day long....kinda like dripping from a faucet or something. So I wouldnt think it would be especially "fun" for a bird either.

IMO, even if a word/phrase is constantly repeated, in the end the bird will only say what they want to say (just ask Camille ), if they even want to say anything at all. Jerry is my biggest talker and I honestly think that:

1) talking to him ALL the time and 2) speaking in an animated and excited voice have been the main motivators for him to talk.

He ONLY says things that I say (he then makes up his own word combinations though) and I speak in an animated voice with him - meaning we we make goofy sounds to each other and I put inflections and emphasis on certain words or phrases and when he mimics me he puts in those same inflections - it's really cool actually. My husband talks to him too, but not in an animated way, and he says NOTHING that hubby says (and thank goodness because sometimes hubby tries to get him to say bad words...).
