I do the same exat thing, they work great and if you really needed to replace them, there not all that expensive. You can buy them in a roll or cut them yourself at home depot. I wipe them down in the morning and other than that, I can vacuum right over them, they work great, and clear so not too obtrusive

A grill pan, Home Depot "3 bucks", a plastic tray for under BBQ Grills...
Works great for under cages.
