Default So give me your cage choice...

I have to order my future Macaw's cage soon before my father-in-law sells his Benz SUV (the big one that you can fit ANYTHING into comes in handy when picking up cages at DHL ) I chose the route of ordering one from a well-known company so I know I am getting quality instead of some unknown brand from the bird show....Is that advised?

I have it down to a few choices, I want to hear from you guys which you think I should order for my future Macaw darling (not sure whether Harlequin or Blue & Gold)...

Do you think it's necessary to have a stainless steel cage for a Harlequin or B&G?

(do you think the powder-coating would hold up to a Mac's beak for years...or should I go stainless if I choose this one?)

I have Kings cages for my guys. Only 137's and not SS but still great cages. Id do ss if I was only dealing with 1 bird. But I had to buy 4! My theory is, buy a really good cage 1 time, instead of cheaper cages over and over.

I agree with Leigh, I bought my cages from King's, and they've been great!!!! However, my smaller cages for my other two little guys came from Cages4less, they have a great selection too! I can't wait to see the cage you decide on, YIKES, I'm getting anxious and I'm not the one getting a new baby, LOL!

I like the third one because of the way the dishes are set up...more room to play.

We have both the 506 and the Animal Environments SS cages and wish I had started out with all SS, but now am replacing our powdered Cal cages. IMO, there are pros and cons to both. I think the SS is better quality on the AE cage, but the bowl set up is better on the Kings. Our B&Gs are not hard on their cages, our GWs are more so.

I see by the pictures that AE has an external feeder system. What are the bowl set up differences between the two that you prefer the King's set up?

lol welcome to my world in my findings, if you want GOOD stainless, you have to spend a lot. if you can settle for powdercoated, you can get one for less than $3000 easily. just keep in mind, they will most likely wear out faster, especially with a macaw. i am not HAPPY about spending $3400 on ivy's cage, but i know it's a good investment. and i won't have to replace the cage years down the road like i would with a cheaper cage.

I knoooooooow.....you're sooooooooo right but it's SO much. Maybe I should just get the affordable cage until years down the road when MAYBE I'll have my credit cards paid off and I can get the glorius Freedom Cage!
