Question Hyacinth Cages?

Hello All,

I was recommended this forum from several people, so I thought I would join up I recently put down a deposit on a baby Hyacinth and he/she will be joining me in January. I am very happy and excited, and I am using the time I have to do the proper research so my bird can be happy and healthy.

I know there are a few Hyacinth owners here, and I was wondering if you could tell me about the housing you have for your birds. I am currently looking at getting a stainless steel cage from Freedom Cages. Any recommendations or help of any kind would be much appreciated. I know no matter what, my cage will be an investment so I want to make sure it is the right choice.

Any other Hyacinth tips or pointers would also be greatly appreciated. It's very difficult to find good, reliable information on Hyacinths.

Thank you so much for your time

Emily

I don't have a Hy but I do want to say congratulations!
You won't have your baby for a while but I am sure it is absolutely worth the wait! Plus, like you said, you will have lots and lots of time to suck up all the info you can

So glad you picked PC Emily.

You will find a lot of informative information here, and, a lot of new friends.
Lucky you!
A Hy...the dream FID of many.
Will this be a first bird for you?

Stainless steel...WOW!
As long as you are spending that kind of $, get the largest one you can find.

Thank you so much! This seems like a really wonderful place! This will be my second bird, I currently have a cockatiel. One of my best friends has a Blue and Gold, so I've been learning a lot through her.

I am definitley wanting to get the largest cage I can afford. I figure it's better to go ahead and go with a good stainless steel cage now rather than to have the Hy break apart several cheaper ones. I'd be heartbroken to come home to an injured bird.

Thank you so much

Hi and welcome to ParrotChatter! I am looking forward to getting to know you to see LOTS of birdie pics. Jump right in and post! You've come to a great place where we have so many wonderful stories and sharing of information.

Congratulations on getting a Hy. We have Hys and also stainless steel Animal Environments Large Macaw cages. They are great and stainless steel is the way to go if you can. If you have any questions, bring them here as we have lots of large macaw owners to help you.

Thank you so much for the welcome! I will be sure to post many pictures as soon as I am able to get some.

I have looked at the Animal Evironment cages, they are very nice! I like that they have a lifetime warranty. How long have you had the hys and those cages? I am so excited to be meeting Hyacinth owners!

Thanks again!

We have had Pebbles for six years and the cages we purchased at the same time. They are very easy to clean and look as new today as they did when we purchased them. We are bird lovers, and are most experienced with macaws, small and large. My Hys are playful and very gentle for large birds.
