I am so sorry to hear that anyone lost a bird to something like this.
There are many different ways to make such pretty things without actually having to use the materials that are dangerous to our birds.

It is water based and non-toxic (I still wouldn't allow them to nibble on it or even get close) and we have made many a present for folks with this stuff and had lots of fun doing so.
