Like I said. BEST water I have EVER tasted. Mine takes about a gallon and a half tap and makes 3/4 of a gallon pure water in about 3-4 hours. It pulls a LOT of power.... but I wouldn't go with any other option at this point.

Thanks for the details bustersbuddy!

I'm very glad you found the information useful! Lori, to answer your question, I use tap water for Buster. While Los Angeles/Glendale water doesn't always taste the absolute best, it is very safe for consumption. I get annual water quality booklets from the City of Glendale and the MWD (Metropolitan Water District) and the levels of dissolved solids and minerals is very acceptable. I also don't want to hassle with adding the nutrients back into the water for Buster. There are too many variables in mineral content, keeping minerals in solution and avoiding mineral antagonisms to make it worthwhile.

In the greenhouse, I also use tap water because I rent the space and can't make the changes to the physical plant of the greenhouses without substantial cost to remove the systems once they are installed. Most of my orchids would certainly do better with pure water.

I have always been under the assumption that Distilled water is void of minerals. Am I understanding correctly that the 'pure steam' is mixed back into the separated minerals, for the end result?

Karen... my distiller does not add minerals back in.

My birds get tap in their cages/aviary. They also get the pure water as they are trained to drink from cups and bottles while they are out in the house, and out and about.

Karen, distilled water is devoid of any mineral content. Bottlers do not add the minerals back to distilled water. Distilled water is bottled for several specific purposes that require it to be mineral free. R/O and D/I water may have minerals added back to it, then it is sold as "drinking water" rather than purified water.
