This what I have. I set it up with a soft rope perch and dishes.

These types are also used often:

Here is Ollie inside of hers:

It is just a regular small bird cage. If you're only wanting a carrier for short trips, like to the vet, I would probably recommend those like what Karen posted. The one I use for Ollie isn't really very "carry-friendly." It's bulky and a little heavy. I use it because we travel quite a bit, and often stay away for the whole weekend. This cage is one that she can stay in comfortably for several days at a time.

We have the pet carriers in different sizes for shorter trips. Camile has a great one for longer period of time.

I use just a regular dog carrier for vet trips. If they are just going to the vet, there really isn't a need to get fancy. You can put perches in there and toys to make it more fun during the trip. I put a cheap floor rug at the bottom and it can be washed at the end of the trip.

For airlines it's required they use the one in Karen's photo, a standard carrier that fits under the seat. I like that style for car travel too, I think it's safer even though I"ve used small cages and wire carriers. You have to watch using a cage it can open or get unhooked from the bottom etc.

this is the kind I use- highly recommend. I moved the fids 3000 miles across country with these and could not have found a better suited carrier for the long journey.

thank you for your input!

karen, i did see that first carrier that you posted - the collapsable one. is it very sturdy when built? i was wondering how strong it was. that looks like a great one.

the second one karen posted it what i normally see. i dont mind that either.

what do you think about the carriers that open at the middle?

I love that carrier. I use it for my GW Macaw and it's very sturdy.
