Mac nuts are what we feed our Hys. I have researched the Palm nuts, but I am not convinced that they are worth the cost. I am continually researching this, however, so the Hy parronts chime in!

I wonder if Seymour would enjoy them. Not sure he would be strong enough to crack them though. You think Palm nuts are bad for a GreenWing?

Lance, the Palm Nuts from Birdelicious are the fresh fruits. They are shipped with ice-packs and are only available during the colder months and usually only by pre-order. I bought several pounds last year.

There is a lot of soft gooey, stringy, oily delicious fruit surrounding the nut. If the birds don't or can't crack the inside nut part, I don't think they're missing out on any nutrition as I have read that it's the fruit that is loaded with the nutrition.

My guys didn't like anything about them, but others that have ordered have said that their birds relished every morsel.

What do you think of them for little birds? (Linnies or P'Lets)?
Are they really large?

Denise I found the average size to be no bigger than the size of a chestnut or radish. I would think any size bird could pick the fruit off them. I view them as a nutritional seasonal treat just like pomegranates.
