Default Outdoor Aviary

Hello All,

I am looking into buying an outdoor aviary for the fids. Does anyone know of a good resource for purchasing outdoor aviaries? I'd like to keep the price under $2,000 if possible.

Thanks.

Cages By Design > Entity.

These look nice and aren't too expensive. I didn't look at spacing though...

I went to google and typed in "parrot outdoor aviary" to find that link- there may be more.

This is the type that a near-by pet store has for their birds when they're outside. They look very nice!

Cages by design is a rip off. Just like to throw that out there. That is one placed we looked at when we built our iguana cage and for what we wanted it would have been around $5000 and we built it for about $1500 with everything included like feeding dishes, wood for the inside of the cage, decoration leaves, the entire bit. ~Jenna

I would love to build my own but I was afriad I wouldn't use the proper materials. My husband is an architect so he could design something really nice. What types of materials did you use? What kind of birds do you have? I have chewers so wood would not work.

Thanks!

Material is something we have really researched. For safty. In general we used wood but the rule is nothing with a sint such as pine. Popular is the best. With a chewer hummmmmm I would use wire you can get it in all different sizes, for a big bird the bigger squares. You buy it in roles. My husband has built several cages from this wire you can get it at home depot. Anything from ferret cages to iguana cages. (dont recommend Iguana use though). We have a parrotlet. For an outdoor, maybe use chain link fencing. You would have to cut it a bit to make a complete enclosure. I can ask my husband when he gets home for more ideas. We were going to help our friends make cages for their macaws and he had plenty of ideas then for those and they are chewers. I will probably get back to you tonight or tomarrow. ~Jenna

Hi Jenna,

I would think the wire would have to be stainless (expensive) or nickel plated otherwise it will rust. I definitely want to use materials that are safe.

Yes! I would love to hear ideas!!! Thanks much!

This is right up the road, and their aviaries look really nice (good folks, too--you want the Wingz page) KW Cages - Rabbit Cages, Rabbit Supplies, Rabbit Housing
I built my own, but they were a serious contender

Also, check your building codes. Here, we have to double mesh an aviary.
