An all-natural nutraceutical formula which combines Bee Pollen with L-Tryptophan, Brewer's Yeast and Vitamin B-6. Avian Tranquility is designed to address feather-plucking, separation syndrome, transport anxiety, and changing of homes or cages. L-Tryptophan, a naturally occurring amino acid, is the biochemical precursor of Serotonin. It has been shown that oral ingestion of L-Tryptophan can stimulate the production of Serotonin and increase Serotonin levels in the body. Serotonin is the chemical messenger in the brain that deals with stress, anxiety and depression. It has been shown that stress and depression result in a decrease in Serotonin levels. The depletion then causes a cyclical effect, resulting in a decrease in ability to deal with further stress.

Bottle contains 50 capsules (350 mg. each capsule) and suggested use is 1/4 to 1/2 capsule per bird depending on the size of bird.

Avian Tranquility for Birds who chew Feathers - Feather Picking Help

Haven't heard of this one, but did use Homeopet Nature's Natural Medicine for Anxiety a presecription by my avian vet and it had a very bad side effect on my little Rosie, Widget. He itched so bad that he pulled out all of his chest feathers and chewed on his chest thus requiring a collar until everything heals. This product also was all natural, but that doesn't mean there isn't something in there that would cause undesirable side effects on your bird. I wouldn't use anything without consulting my vet first, even then side effects can occur. Is this an "over the counter" product?

Pat I have used the Homeopet Nature's Natural Medicine for Anxiety and had no problem with it here. I didn't use it everyday though, just here and there as was needed for hormonal days.

I have seen the Avian Tranquility offered for sale at various internet sites. It seems to be advertised alongside the Avian Trio (Bee Pollen) quite often. I think it's put out by the same manufacturer as the Avian Trio.

Glad to hear you had no problems with Homeopet, I'm sure it's a really good product, it just had bad side effects on Widget. Thanks for the info on Avian Tranquility - will check it out.
