I just looked and did see oak on the toxic side. I think they are multiple species of oak though? This is a good topic!

There are many different types of oak. Some are not safe at all. I have the one that is....scrub oak. There is another link to a website that I'm looking for. Let me see if I can find it.

I have a list that I'm looking for that has the different types of "oak" on it and the type of oak that is in my front yard is the safe kind (although, I haven't used it in many years..I have a friend in CA that sends me fresh cut manzanita).

I can't find that list! Maybe something has changed? It's been several years since I have looked into it. I'll know now, NOT to put it into the cages. I haven't had to though.....I have a crap load of manzanita.

I have tons of scrub oaks in the yard. They spray for mosquitos every night in the summer though. Is it possible to get that stuff off?

I don't think I'd use it...based on what I found today. I know that several years ago, I found several websites that said that Scrub Oak Limbs are fine to put into a cage.....only after treated though. I guess they found out that oaks aren't the best thing to put into a cage w/birds.
