    Default what to do?

Well, there I was pondering in my shop. See, I had this 8' 2x4 just sitting there doing nothing. So I got to thinking.
Once the headache went away I spotted some old rope!!
Ok, now the wheels are turning hard!!
Once the aspirin started to work I could see again.
What's that? A couple pieces of dowel? I wonder............
HAH!! I stopped thinking before the headache this time and went to work.
Yeah, picked up that way cool chop saw (mitre saw) and whacked that 8' 2x4 into into quarter inch strips......... after I drilled a quarter inch whole down the middle. (one bit length at a time)
    Did some knot tying.
Did some more knot tying with longer pieces of rope.
    What did I get?

Well, one of these for Sophie!! (please disregard her regurge ball in front)

AND one of these for Zoey!!

Glad your head pain was able to be cured by making birdie toys.

Yeah, it would take me about a month ... to get round to thinking about maybe finally making it in a couple of weeks' time ... possibly.

WOW! Those look WONDERFUL, Jim! I keep on telling people that toys are easy to make and so very cheap when you do them yourself. Next time, try doing them alternating a piece of wood with something else - like a playing card (can get an entire deck real cheap), a pine cone, a dried fig, a little twig, a cinnamon stick, a big knot of rope (my birds love the big knots), babies wooden toys (like alphabet cubes, for example)etc. Anything colorful, non-toxic and clean works.
