Hi Randi. Actually the TOP and Foundation Formula both have no artificial ingredients just so they're not fortified in the traditional way. But if you mean chock full of vitamins, yes they are.
I've noticed both Plets prefer the FF but they eat the TOP I guess they can tell the difference lol. But I dont think the brand would really influence a bird lol. FF has a "spicers blend" it's spicier.
I"ve noticed that a couple Macaw people and a couple of Greys said the TOP wasnt popular with them.
Since it's VERY GREEN I'm not surprised that Amazon types like it. That would be Pletts too in that category. Justjoshin's bg wasnt thrilled but his Amazon yelled from across the room for it the first time.
Nope no bloodwork. I'm just giving a scant amount of Nekton every sunday just in case. And the calcium. I dont have a vet who I'm gung ho about poking their jugulars at this point in time LOL. Dr G doesnt do that sort of thing anymore so I wouldnt even ask him.....
FUNNY, if I skip the calcium BOTH Pletts attack the cuttlebone that week. I've tried it off and on. Even the boy ALOT!
My Budgies get Harrisons Hi Po Mash especially the LIpoma hen and a bunch of mixes and fresh. NO supplements cuz of the mash.
Thanks about the list, it started with Shauna Roberts on a feeding group.
I give three of every category at least ...But that's partly economy and partly because they are small birds. And partly for enrichment and visual stuff.
But for people like you with large birds and who'll use UP a bunch of stuff, it would work offering a rotation of one from each category every day. That's the theory that you'll eventually hit each thing and it's unique properties. Example you wont get to spinach very often so the oxalic acid thing would be minimized.
PLUS if you're sitting around when they eat you can actually SEE what they are swallowing. With Parrotlets you have to give a large serving (s) to prevent fights and so alot is left over all chewed up and disguised and spit back out on the plate
