#1 | | | Okra and Pomegranate Fruit I am not a big one for making recipes... at most, I make gloop, which I also eat But I want to share the two natural foods that my birds will always eat with gusto, from the 'little' rosebreasted too to the big macaws. Okra and pomegranate fruits! Rosa, my too, will never look at a blueberry, I need to cut her grape in two pieces, but the pomegranate fruit wins hands down, same with the macaws, they eat every last one. Same with okra, it's the one vegetable they eat down to the last one, even the green part. This has been, to me, a relatively recent revelation, especially the okra. |

#4 | | | Re: Okra and Pomegranate Fruit No, actually, I cook it for myself, being the only one in my family who loves okra. I crush a few garlics, cook them in olive oil in the skillet, throw on the okra when the oil is hot and sear it all around for about a minute. Then I slice few of them for each macaw, and Rosa gets one or two, also sliced. I will sometimes throw a few slices of cooked sweet potato or hot peppers into the pan. I am so used to half or more of their served broccoli on the floor, along with the mustard greens, the dandelion, etc., so I am really impressed with the way they eat okra |
