Default Looking 4 an Organic NutriBerry Recipe

Calling all cooks!
I'm looking for an organic Nutriberry type recipe.

On my NO list is;
It doesn't need to have unsulphured dried fruit in it, but unsulphured Papaya would be alright.
No corn
No wheat
No peanuts
Chopped nuts would be alright. I'm making them for Macaws.

On my YES list is;
Some known non-allergenic type grains would be a must.
I'm thinking toasted cooked brown rice?
What about Oatmeal? Is that a good grain? I don't want to use known allergens.
Molasses would be fine. I think it offers a source for some minerals.

Now I need some advice from someone that cooks and bakes!

Thanks so much.

Here's one I found, haven't tried it though. After this weekends experiment with trying out some new dishes on the skin folk, I'm taking a break from trying anything else new

Mama Bird’s Nutriberries
1 cup of unsulphured dried fruit
2 Tablespoons of unsweetened coconut
1/2 cup of uncooked oatmeal
1/2 cup of organic raisins or currants
1/4 cup of small seeds and/or crushed nuts
1/4 cup of raw organic wheat germ flakes
2 Tablespoons of organic almond butter
1 Tablespoon of blackstrap molasses

Blend all the dry ingredients in a food processor until chopped finely. Place mixture into a bowl and add almond butter and molasses. Mix very well, the mix will be sticky. Roll mixture into small 1/2" balls and place on a cookie sheet. Save the fine coconut shreds until last and roll the balls in it, or shake them in a bag of wheat germ or ground almonds. Bake at 325 degrees for about 20 minutes. Cool and serve. Recipe x 4 makes over ninety nutriberries.

Thanks Michelle! I like the looks of that recipe. I wouldn't use the wheat germ. I want to stay away from any known allergens. Kita would love to have them rolled in almonds though!

I'd also add a little millet, couple safflower seeds, sesame seed and flax seed. I think the regular NutriBerries have Oat Groats too. Hmmm, not sure what those look like. Do you have to cook them?

What else could I stick in there to make it a healthy treat?

Oat groats are simply the inside of the oat after it has been hulled.

Could the dried fruit be replaced with fresh?

Oat groats should be fine, Karen.
