Question Birdie Bread

Hi all. I made some birdie bread last night for Z. She snubbed her beak at it but this am she tried it and is now having some for dinner. Well...that brings me to my question. How much do they actually get in their stomach? It seems like there is alot going everywhere but her stomach! I am a bit nervous that she isn't eating enough of it. Thanks all!

I give birdie bread as more of an occasional treat than anything, so it doesn't really matter how much of it they eat. I'll include a chunk of it with their dinner once in a while. If they just have fun tearing it apart and flinging it, it's all good. Heck, they do that with most anything they eat. They always seem to manage to get some actually inside them though.

Yes, really it's a treat depending on how you make it, not a meal that you can depend on. Especially for a young bird who's still learning to eat. I'd give it once. I'd also suggest you talk to your vet about diet especially with a Grey. Since they are prone to calcium deficiencies. If she's not eating 85% pellets they will want to know it so they can advise you properly on if and how to supplement.

But anyway, it's fun and enrichment even if she's just picking seeds out or whatever.

I think there's a bunch of recipies in the Holistic (diet) forum. Valo's Morena's is super easy and healthy imo....I just made it last night. Along with the sweet potato puffs. I'm not too crazy about using a mix or Jiffy because of the salt, sugar, baking powder and other additives.
