My apologies for being far off topic here. Anyone who just watched the Kentucky Derby will have seen a beautiful filly go down, never to rise again. Eight Belles ran her heart out, then collapsed with two broken front ankles. She was immediately euthenized. I will not forget her. After the horrific accident with Barbaro a while back, I swore I would never watch another race, but I weakened. That won't happen again. Won't make any other comments regarding the 'sport' since this is not the appropriate forum for that. Run free, Eight Bells. If you can, please spare a moment for a little prayer for her.

Oh my gosh, how sad. I almost turned the race on when I was visiting my mom. She was flipping through and I saw the Derby was on and I almost told her to put it on. I'm glad I didn't see that.

I find it a little spooky that they named her 8 bell(e)s .... she is at the end of her watch now and running like the wind in greener pastures.

I was born in Kentucky and if there is one thing I love - it's a horse! I never watch the derby. The young, not fully grown fillies have no business there!
