Default My Poppa

Last Saturday my maternal grandfather, Fergus McIvor Johnson passed away. He went quickly, for which I am thankful.
Poppa was born April 7, 1922 in Alabama (can't remember the town). He grew up and was a part of WWII. He was brave under fire & served well. He came home, married my grandma and had 2 kids - Mom & my Uncle Lanny.

Poppa was a talented musician, both singing and playing the harmonica. He always kept one close by & enjoyed playing it.

I love ya Poppa.

I'm sorry, Leah. I know you said you were going to a funeral, but I didn't want to pry. I would have loved to hear your Popa play the harmonica.

Thanks all. I'm not grieving, because I know that I'll see him again some day. Poppa made his peace with the Lord a couple months ago. God also delivered him from the pain he experienced.

Nate, imagine if you can a mini pipe organ - that's rather what Poppa's playing sounded like. He made it sing for sure. His brother - my Great Uncle Charles played at the funeral. What beauty! The 2 played in a high school harmonica band together.

Poppa also lived to see his great grandson. The first & SUCH a cutie!

He would have been 86 in April.

My condolences to you and the family. Rest in peace, Fergus. As the old folks used to say, he is singing (and playing) with the angels this Easter.
