Kid Fid passed yesterday at 7:34 PM . Wed...

I was not up to posting about this last night.....

I came home from shopping ... around 5 PM

I walked in house... with bag of groceries on my hip.. my chi puppy was howling and I heard a stange sound coming from Kid (my dream bird baby that was a gift RB2) and turned to look....

Kid was having a seizure and flapping around like crazy.... dropped the bag of groceries and ran to cage...

About the time I opened cage door... the screaming started.... grabbed Kid up in towel.... and ran to phone..... with screaming seizing bird....

About the time I found avian vets # (have put on speed dial since) and phone was ringing.. seizure stopped....

Spoke with vet... explained what was going on and that Old man was out of town and would be bring bird in on my own.. thru rush hour traffic...

He said NO..... he would come to my house... (he only lives about 10 miles from me) and did not want me driving thru town with ill and seizing bird by myself... was afraid I would have a wreck if bird started having another seizure while I was driving..

It took him a little over an hour .. to make it from his office to my house.. across town during rush hour traffic.... I sat waiting .. with Kid in my lap.. rapidly breathing, eyes half closed and unresponsive..... one hand cupped around him.. to let him know that he was not alone.. Mama was here...

When the vet got here.. he looked Kid over and said that he needed to be put in intensive care unit , his condition did not look good at all..... he went and got his portable (battery run) intensive/ brooder thingy from his suv.....

The vet had been here for about 20 min at that point.... he went to get Kid from me.... Kid shivered... took one big breath.. and quit breathing....

The vet tryed to get him breathing for almost 10-15 min.. before he gave up... I think he tried more for my sobbing sake .. than expecting anything to help...

He put Kid in the care thingy.... and took him out to his suv... called his wife and kids on his cell while outside.. and told them to hook a trailer to her suv and come over here... now.... they loaded Kid's cage on trailer.... to give heavy vet strength disenfecting....and also so I would not have to stare at empty cage right now.

The lab had lost Kid's testing work.. and I was about to have it redone.... the vet was not sure that he is/was not carrying something contagious....

I am very glad now.. that I do quarrentine .. and have used up 2 bottles of hand sanitizer in the almost 2 weeks that Kid Fid was here... but there is still the possibliity of airborn.....

The vet dosed the tiels and finchs with antibiotic.... and I am to continue to give to them for the next 10 days along with AVC in water.. while waiting on test result and Kid's necropsy..

Wife put all bird dishs to soak in strong disenfactant.... told me to go take shower.. but had me get together anything washable that I had used or worn around Kid before shower ..... when I got out of shower.. she threw everything in washer for me.. with the disenfectant also.. will have to rewash like normal.. to get the residue out...

Speedy (my chi puppy) never quit howling the whole time till I took him out of his crate after vet was gone.... and I have never heard him howl before today..

I had hoped to never have to make a post .... about one of my birds on Never Forgotten.....

But here I am....

Crying started all over again while typing this....

I feel so bad for you Suz. I'm crying with you. My heart goes out to you and Kid.

OMG - I am so sorry. My heart is aching for you and Kid. So, so sorry.

I am so very sorry Suz, my heart is just breaking for what you're going through.

Oh no Suz, I am so sorry. Your little one is free from pain and flying free now, over that rainbow bridge. Typing through tears here, this is such sad news, I'm just stunned. I know how excited you were about this baby, I can't imagine how you feel. Wish there were something I could say to take some of the pain away, but you know that only comes with time. Hang in there Suz, you are in my thoughts and prayers.

Suz, I'm so very sorry for your loss, words can not express how I feel.......

That's just terrible Suz - thank goodness your Vet & his wife are such wonderful people. What a heart wrenching story.

I have every digit crossed that no one else gets sick. Poor baby Chi - what a good dog - they are remarkable.
