I am so sorry you feel you failed.....this is not a Truth. It's okay to take time for yourself....but please remember, we are and will be here for you to walk with you through your pain.

I don't know if will help at all but a favorite poem of mine was posted not too long ago by Wendy- it has brought me great comfort, undertanding and insight as I have struggled too with some of the challenges you describe. The name of it is

Dear Arty and Rose Ann,

I am so sorry to hear you lost Joey. I know how you feel and how great that loss is. I wish you every comfort, every peace and every sweet memory in your pain. In time, the sweet memories will ease the pain and be a balm to the wounds. Know that you helped Joey in every way you could and she knew how much you cared for her. You will miss her for now, but you will see her again, made whole and happpy, when you cross the Bridge as we all must. Until that time, hold each other close, share your memories and live as you always have, in love and peace with each other and the world.

You honor Joey's memory by sharing her story here and by going forward with your own life so that you can tell others how special Joey was and your experiences with her. Try to focus on all the time you shared with her and not just the end of her life. There is so much more to the story of Joey than how her life ended. You did NOT fail her, Arty -- quite to the contrary. You were a loving, responsible companion for and guardian of little Joey. Both you and she were blessed to share your lives together.

Joey will always be with you. In every birds eyes you look into, she will be looking back, with every bird you see flying, she will be up there, she is in your heart, and that, no one can ever take away. Think of all the love she gave to you, and you gave to her........she's your little birdy angel, and she will never leave you.

Also, please don't forget all she taught you. If not for Joey, you wouldn't have persued your love of birds and other animals, and look at all the baby's you & Rose gave love & life to. She came to teach you, and she did. Bless her heart.

All you folks are very kind, your words are within me.
Thank You Winged Victory "Gary" for your phone call to me, I needed a rest, sleep eludes me, as I spoke with you on the phone I began to realize the house was very silent, There has been much crying here, all our kids have been upset as well, they all know there is something very wrong and a hush has fallen unto this home.
As I spoke with Gary on the phone I explained I still have Joey here with me, I desperately want to cremate her so the healing may begin, But for right now holding her, just for alittle while is a need.
Its bitter here, very cold, Tommorow I will start a fire near the garden and cremate Joey.
You folks are simply wonderful, I am so pleased John asked me to come here and be apart of this wonderful group.
I am asking you all to forgive me as sometimes my words don't come out as I intend them, I never wish harm unto others.
I don't harm people or blow up cars and such things on my quest to end animal suffering at the hands of mankind, I am a very determined person, I will make a difference for them, they all are so very dear to me.
I see wrong and try and right it.

I am sorry about Joey. She sure was loved! And she brought so much good to other birds lives, she was a real blessing.

Arty I am so very sorry! I am not sure why you feel you failed, youhave always gone over an above on everything you do for those birds! Just remember that you are sucha good hearted person and have done everything in your power to make thier lives better.

Arty, there is nothing wrong with your words, or your heart. Both speak strongly to us of your love and determination to make a difference in the lives of these animals. Don't be afraid of your uncertainties Arty, when we stop questioning that's when we're in real trouble. You remind us that we are all Gods Creatures, Great and Small.
