#1 | | | Pi'ere, my new PBFD Yup I have just adopted another. His name is Pi'ere.
He is fully feathered but only has half a bottom beak and a 6cm long top beak. He is appx 8 years old.
I got a call on Saturday, the owner is 80 years old and just gone into hospital, not to come out of, on oxygen, painful reminder of my dad, I had to walk out of the room, couldn't handle that one again.
Anyway, the owner went in 2 weeks ago, left the avairy door open hoping the bird would fly away to freedom. Not so.
I am fast becoming the PBFD rescue here.
I just spoke to my vet, she said give him a month to settle in then bring him in for a beak clip.
How the poor darling can eat properly I have no idea. I will post a pic of him soon.
No, not testing him, I cannot afford any more tests. What happens, happens. If he definitely has it well so be it, if not then so be it. I give up, it is endemic here. Whoever wants to judge for me taking him on and having him outside so be it.
My vet just said to me...."good on ya for taking him on, poor bird" The bird, think he is just happy to have fresh water and some decent food.
I hope he survives from the shock of being rehomed. Keep your fingers crossed.
