Arty, sorry to hear that, OUCH! Must be breeding season for all of them this time of year. My guy here is getting cranky also.

Andy is beautiful.
I have a 13 yr. old Yellow-Crowned female, and a wonderful bird, but "things" are on her terms. She is very good at letting me know what is okay, and what is not, and when it's okay, and when it's not. I've heard that this is typical Amazon behavior, but I do not know since she is my only experience with an Amazon, but it matters not, she is an absolute love.

Yeah, Amazons do tend to be opinionated and direct in communicating their likes and dislikes .

Arty, I'll bet Andy will come around one day. They understand love and care. I think they reward it with their attention in time. Your willingness to "let Andy be Andy" is the key. As you know, you can't force large birds to do anything and you can't rush their progress. This is a beautiful story and a great example of how kindness can change lives.
