Default JoJo

JoJo is an amazon that was given to a friend and passed on to me with another amazon.

he was not abused but his diet left alot to be desired because he was way overweight and has at least 8 large fatty tumors growing in various places on his body that will have to be removed.(he is a really sweet bird)

The old bum in the pictures must have snuck in when i wasnt looking.

What a beauty. I love the 3rd. picture, that is so sweet. John do you know if there is a difference medically between fatty tumors and Xanthoma's?

Feathers a lipoma is a large soft tumor usually found under the skin and in extreme cases cause blockages of the vent or are found just inside of the abdominal cavity where they can restrict the movement of urates and feces.he has a problem there not bad enough to kill him yet but it would in time.

Xanthoma's are pretty close to the same thing (sort of) but i have never seen one grow inside of a bird(if its even possible)

Most fatty tumors never cause problems but once in a while you get a few that get in the way of elimination or blood flow and they have to be removed so if your bird has one just have it checked out to make sure that its not going to be a problem later or is not causing one now(a few ounces of fatty tumors can wear a small bird out and a couple of large ones can cause real problems.)

Thanks John, I appreciate the info. I've been doing some research about Xanthoma's and fatty tumors. I found some info. about diet supplements here:
