Toilet paper and paper towel rolls appear to be perfect shreddable or foraging type toys for our fids. However, they are not safe. The glue holding the rolls together contains zinc which is toxic to birds. Please err on the side of caution and find something safer to give your fids to chew on.

That wouldn't surprise me, Camille. I haven't been able to find anything specifically about the glue, but did find reference that you shouldn't use rolls from scented toilet paper or paper towels here: Alerts Dangers and Toxins for Pet Birds Parrots.

The paper is also cured in formaldehyde ... embalming fluid.

I tried to look up the article I used to post on this topic, and found that Marijuana smokers now use TP rolls in their smoking method because the fumes will get you high... apparently. I can't seem to find the article though, I will look for one of my old posts on another board.
