Just to be contrary..... I have heavy glass cookware -- pots, pans, baking dishes--all Corningware (glass not china). That way I can use them on the cooktop, in the oven or in the microwave. Some of them are over 20 years old now and they are holding up very well. I do have a few cookie sheets and cake pans made of metal for those holiday treats!

if you have a bed, bath and beyond and get their 20% off coupons, get the emeril cooking set.the ss one that is. his is an all clad. at a resonable price.$199 for a 10 pc set. with the 20% off it only cost $149 plus taxes.

We have a stainless steel set that has a copper ring around the bottom to help distribute heat evenly. Before that we did have tefal but there was too much worry involved about temps and the possible fumes so needless to say we stopped using it. We have had our stainless set for quite a few years now, it's a faberware set I believe and wasn't super expensive, I believe around $250 or so for the full set. The only gripe I have is that it took a little getting used to cooking some foods, some foods seemed to cook faster, others seemed slower and we do use a non stick cooking spray like pam as we did have issues with some foods sticking a bit even when cooked on low/medium. Overall we really do like our set though.
