Thank you for the info Susan. So my scrub oaks are out but I do have a bunch of pine. My neighbor has a couple of dogwood!

Just remember that ANY wood has to be treated before putting it into the cage.

I cleaned all of the manzanita that I got from my friend in CA with a solution of 10 cups to 1 cup bleach.....let soak for 1-2 hours, making sure all parts are covered with the solution. Then, if the pieces are small enough, I put them into the oven on 250 for 1 hour....the bigger pieces, I let sun bake.

Thank you for the info. on how to clean and bake. I would only make a perch or 2. I'm not mechanically inclined enough to attempt a play stand. I'm pretty crafty with a glue gun but power tools are scary!
