Glad to hear the little one's ok! We have to really check the cages for our fids! I almost lost my first Nanday conure when he got stuck trying to lift is water dish out of the slot so he could get out. I found him much like your little one, tired, exhausted and just this side of giving up the ghost. Too scary!!

Glad to hear you caught him in time. How's he like the new cage so far?

Emily - glad Tahoe is okay! It is amazing how they find the tiniest flaw to get themselves in trouble. So glad you saw him before anything happened. I know of a grey who got his wing stuck in the bars of his cage. Unfortunately, he didn't make it. I suppose he had a heart attack.

I am just still amazed it happened! He had managed to wedge his itty bitty head in between that gap in the grate (finger size) and the grate itself. Poor baby.

He seems to be OK now- actually, a smaller cage seems to suit him better. He never seem to be really 'settled' in the other cage, and I always had a hard time getting him to eat new foods. Well, his water dish was on one end, food dish on the other, and perches all over the place. Now water and food dish are right next to each other, and right where he can see them... he is eating everything I give him! And his body language seems a lot more relaxed.

Because Laker's cage is small - i keep all his food/water in one spot - mainly so it's well away from any poop. I think they enjoy the convenience of everything in one spot. I also wanted to max. his play area.

Glad to hear he likes his new digs.
Guess you'll need another bird to use the other cage.
