Default Stirlings foot

Sydney bit Stirling tonight. On his toe, and it doesnt appear deep, but more ripped the skin off. So there is some blood.
I took a stalk off my aloe plant and put the juices on his would. I have neosporin, but its the cream type and thought the aloe would be better..

any thoughts?

lisa... i feel a little dumb answering to a person with 30+yrs of experience with birds

however, my 2 cents... i'd go with the aloe since i'm overall not a big fan of artificial stuff when nature can work.... i'd just watch closely and maybe do something against the danger of an infection....

Lisa - I found my Eclectus caught in a toy about a year ago. He actually tried to chew his foot off to free himself. I applied Neosporin to his foot. It healed very quickly, with no infection, and he was actually using the foot the following day. It looked really nasty - I thought he would never be the same. Just my 1 cent.

Give Stirling a kiss for me.

Poor Stirling, tell his big brother to be nice! My Ducky was bitten on the feet by our female IRN, I used chlorhexidine to clean the wounds everyday and they cleared up nicely. I didn't think to use neosporin, but I'm sure the aloe is fine Lisa.

Lisa, sorry about Stiling's foot. Did you clean the wound with peroxide or bentadine? My choice would be the aloe plant as it work wonders. Just in case keep an eye out for infection.

I read somewhere (don't recall where) that using an aloe plant is dangerous because of possible bacteria in the plant or aloe. I assume that is not the case from these posts here. I know it was several years ago. Has this all changed over the years?

The only thing I've heard against aloe, is that the juice (not the gel) inside the actual leaf can cause an allergic reaction in some people. I've never had any problems with it, and my whole family has very sensitive skin. I love my aloe plant, I'm gonna have to repot it soon, it's getting pretty big.
