Default seizures?????

I think my little yellow parakeet is having seizures. I gave him his meds via dropper and when I put him back in the cage he started what looked like a seizure. He did it 4 times in a short period. I am trying to upload a video on photobucket but it's taking FOREVER!!!
Could I have medicated him incorrectly??? I've been giving .4 baytril for over a week now and this is the first time he's done this.
my son said he just did it again. What can I do????? heres the like to the video...

How was the baytril mixed? What does .4 represent? I would call the vet and tell him what is going on. While you have if on the phone ask how the baytril is mixed and how many mg of baytril is in the .4 you describe. It is very important that you know the correct dosage. Another way to ask the vet is what is the formulary mg/ baytril to kg/ bird weight.

Keep your bird warm while contacting the vet. Keep us posted.

it's 11.3 mg/ml and he's getting .04 mg.

I brought him right in to the vet and it is seizures. He gave him valium but he still was making noises and moving in circles only in one direction. He will be staying in the hospital for the weekend.
The vet just called and said he's weighing 24 grams again. He was 28 on our scale yesterday, I'm sure there is a variation on the scales. He tube fed him and they took blood which should be on it's way now. he handled the blood draw and fluids well. They are checking to see if it may be a vitamin deficiency or neurological.
Poor little guy has been through so much.

If I medicated him improperly, like going down the wrong way, this could not have happened could it?

Thanks!!!

Sally, sometimes fear will also trigger seizures. It could be he knew what was coming and got frightened. how does he accept the meds?
Several of my guys through the years have gone through this. All made it through like troupers. I can put you in contact with someone up by you who has this with her tiel. Call me if you need me.

Hey Lisa, I was getting worried about you! I just posted "anyone hear from Lisa B?" Hope you're feeling better!

Anyway, it has been quite a whirlwind around here! He doesn't like getting caught so it winds up being a 2 minute chase around the cage until I catch him. He squirms like crazy when he's in the tissue to get the meds but swallows them 'cause he has no other choice. I think he ends up wearing half of the drop he is supposed to get. Today was the first time I've seen him have the seizures. It was a lot, one right after the other! He had one in the car on the way to the vet that lasted over 6 minutes. as soon as we arrived I pushed my way in front of the line so the vet could witness what he was doing and he took him right in. Thankfully everyone was understanding.
The vets doing blood work and he should have the results probably by Monday, I can't remember what he said. Checking vitamins, liver and kidney function. I guess if that comes back normal he could say its' neurological and from that point we will have to make a decision on what to do.

I may need to take you up on that person!!!

This certainly is more than I bargined for!!! I thought we were out of the woods when he came home from the hospital the first time! I was so impressed with his recovery. Poor little guy!
