Glad you have a vet appointment tomorrow and keeping a close eye on Ivy tonight is important. Skirches from me to Ivy!

she acted and played totally normal for the rest of the night, and she is now asleep in her blanketed cage. no heat lamp here, but she should stay pretty warm. we keep the thermostat at 80. i will update after we get back from the vet's tomorrow.

I'm hoping it's allergies.

Picassa (b&g) gets like that every so often and I had the vet look at her and he said it was allergies (clear fliud).. I get scared when it does happen... I wipe her nose an keep an eye on her. I'm over protective having lost Riley four years ago.

Keep us posted.

Let us know what the vet says as soon as you get back. A runny nose (especially as much as she had according to the pictures) is ALWAYS a reason for concern. Even if it's only allergies which, in reality, are usually misdiagnosed because birds usually are not reacting to an allergen but to an actual irritant.

Sweet Emily, I remember reading somewhere that to give them medicene, put it on a little piece of pound cake. When Gipper was so sick I didn't know that. We had a terrible time. Maybe that will help if she needs meds. Thinking of you! XO

you guys are awesome she is doing fine this morning, we are going into the vet at 2:30. no more runny nose for now, but i am not brushing off yesterday in the least.

bea, i had been reading that allergies were often misdiagnosed with birds. what do you mean by an "irritant" versus and "allergen"? i will definitely post what the vet says when i get back.

jess, ivy hates bread products and i would be worried about the sugar content in pound cake. but i bet if i put it on a mac nut it would be GONE lol! fortunately, she is pretty good about letting me open her mouth. she's ripped buttons off my pants and keys of my keyboard in the blink of an eye and i've had to yank them out!!
