I honestly don't know Emily, but it doesn't seem normal. I'm sure someone will be along to help here very soon. You could always call the vet first thing in the morning.

Hang in there!

I could not tell from the picture is it a bald patch or something else. Could he have been scratched by a toy or does it look like he is picking his feathers at that particular location?

i've never seen him picking and none of his toys would be able to scratch him like that i don't think.

Ivy doesn't have contact with him does she? How is he doing otherwise? Is he acting normal?

I've read that feather loss could be a sign of illness. I would think that if he is acting fine, and not in any distress.. eating/drinking fine that he should be okay to see the vet tomorrow. Obviously if anything changes you would want to call the vet immediately. How is his poop? Does it look any different?

Well he's stable, that's good, that's a good sign. Whatever it is you've caught it early and that's good as well. I won't tell you not to worry, because I'm sure you will anyways. It could be something or it could be nothing but I would definitely have it checked out. I don't know if it could be a sign of age? It's good your husband noticed this. Props to him.
