When I see this happening I usually just start giving him a few squirts of my buddy rinse mixture.

I think it is from his rubbing the side of his head either against toys or just from scratching. Ru's doesn't look irritated or red either.
i think it's near his ear, yes. all i have is the photo until i get home tonight.

thank you for this, i really appreciate it. it makes me feel more at ease.

Is he playing and eating ok? Is he doing his thing with the mirror and toy? Normal stuff?
i am ok, i just get worried. i am a born worrier!

i will definitely be keeping an eye on him. he seems to be playing and eating ok. i am not sure if he did his "thing" tonight because i am at work, but i will talk to my hubby and look artemis over when i get home. he said that he didn't seem to be acting strangely. but he seemed a little touchy i think.

Good advice Andreya!

Thanks Gary. Although I am glad there are people here who have more experience with birds than I do.

I dont know what to say Emily... To me, it looks like a scratch or a rub against a toy or somethin as others have suggested, but I dont know. I'd be freaking out too, so I know how you feel. But try not too.. Keep us updated, I'll be thinking of you and Artemis.
