Default Pet Food Recall

My apologies for not putting this in the "Other Pets" forum, but I think this may qualify as an emergency in any case.

Menu Foods, a major dog and cat food manufacturer who makes foods for 48 different companies, has announced a major recall involving canned and pouched food. Here's a link to the ABC news story on it: http://www.abcnews.go.com/Business/U...2960127&page=1
There is a link to the company's website there as well.

There are at least 10 confirmed deaths so far, from apparent Renal (Kidney) Failure. First symptom owners seem to notice is loss of appetite. Please check this out, and keep a close eye on your dogs and cats if you find any link to foods you use. Hopefully they have caught this early enough, but I think this has potential to be a very heartbreaking situation.

I've heard this about 4 times already on the news this morning. Such a sad, sad deal. I'm so thankful our dogs and cats don't get canned food.

Pass this to everyone you know, it killed my 7 year old Siamese Cat. I'm having my best friend of 25 years ( a lawyer) track down a class action attorney for me. Someone else will probably get to it first but I'd love to have my name as primary on the suit.

the update on this is really bad. now they are saying more 1 in 6 pets have died from this food. their list of recalled foods keep expanding. now there is over 100 recalled products. they have admitted that they really dont know the source of contamination. or what product they are using that is bad.

And they sure are quick to "test" the food on poor innocent animals. Last I heard (yesterday early afternoon) 8 dogs and cats had died when they tested the food on them. They've also said that cats seem to be more affected by the food than dogs.

Default There must be a better way.......

to test this stuff! This from a CBC article on the web: "The FDA first learned of a potential problem after receiving complaints on Feb. 20 and followed up by feeding the "cuts and gravy" product to 40 to 50 cats. Of those, seven animals died, said Stephen Sundlof, the FDA's top veterinarian."
