Default Need help with Abi!

I left messages in the dove forum for Arty. Abi has arrived with only two little tail feathers today. He is not acting the same...he is puffed and huddling. He did not go for his seed. After not being here yesterday all day I would think he would be hungry, which worries me now. He is leaning on his left wing also. I posted a pic in the dove forum under a new heading! Need to know what to do?
Thanx, Donna

This is the bird that visits you right, not one that comes inside? Assuming he wont come to you, I would give a box he can go in and you can line it with straw or even just paper I guess. I'd move it near the house where nobody can get to him so easily or if he's skittish then put it wherever you think he'll find it and be glad to go in it .. but somewhere where it feels safe for him. High not on the ground. Put water out around and in it and food.

If you think you'll need to take him to a rehab or vet you can cover three sides with a blanket so you can swoop it down to cover the door if you can get him to go in there and it'll provide insulation too. But it would have to be not scary if he sees it. Which he will. OR if the box has a lid put the lid on top of the box so you can casually close it quickly if necessary.

I know that's harder than I'm making it sound lol.

If he seems in real distress and you need to rush him somewhere just throw a light sheet or blanket again right over him IF POSSIBLE to snag him to go to the doctor. That's of course hopefully not going to happen and if necessary you'll be able to find someone. I'd start calling now just in case.
